We have gotten a lot of questions from parents about year-round/competitive swimming. Charlotte is one of the biggest swimming cities in the country and there are a lot of great club options to choose from. Approximately 45 of our 145 swimmers are involved in year-round programs – approximately 5-10 with MSA, 15-20 with SwimMac, and 15-20 with Team Charlotte. These three clubs all have locations within 10 miles of WSRC. There may be other clubs represented on the Wahoos team that I am not aware of.

Coach Nathan is a great resource for questions about year-round swimming. He can tell you about the different clubs and what competitive swimming looks like for different age groups. I would be happy to share our families experience with Team Charlotte and I am sure parents with swimmers at MSA, SwimMac or other clubs would likewise be happy to share their feedback. Tryouts for most clubs are starting soon and continuing over the coming month.

Definitely recommend looking into competitive swimming if your swimmer really loves the water and finds swimming fun.
