Year-Round Swim Programs
Wahoos families,
Each season the team receives questions from parents about year-round/competitive swimming programs. Charlotte is one of the biggest swimming cities in the country and there are a lot of great club options to choose from. Approximately 50 swimmers are involved in year-round programs. Life Time, MSA, SwimMac, and Team Charlotte have facilities within about 6 miles of WRSC. There are other programs in the greater Charlotte area, as well (ATOM, NSS, QCD, & SailFish among others).
Coaches Sarah and Skylar are great resources for questions about year-round swimming as they've swam for local programs. They can tell you about the different clubs and what competitive swimming looks like for different age groups. My family would be happy to share our family’s experience with our kids swimming with Team Charlotte. I am sure parents with swimmers at Life Time, MSA, SwimMac or other clubs would likewise be glad to share their feedback. I’d be happy to connect you with other parents if you are interested.
Most clubs start year-round seasons in early September. Tryouts for most clubs are underway and continue through July into mid-August (depending on the club).
Definitely recommend looking into competitive swimming if your swimmer really loves the water and finds swimming fun.
