Practice Starts Monday - A Guide to the Season
Hi Parents,
It was so nice to see and meet many of you today! We had a successful first day of clinics. Below is some helpful information to start preparing for the season. Our head coaches will also host an information session after practice one day next week. More info on that coming soon.
Practice Schedule
We practice Monday through Friday. From May 20-June 7 we'll practice in the afternoons:
10U: 4:00p-5:00p
11O: 5:15p-6:30p
Starting June 8, we'll move to mornings and practice:
10U: 8:45a-9:45a
11O: 9:45a-11:00a
Other Important Dates
Friday May 24th: Sundae Night to celebrate the first week of practice. RSVP here.
Thursday May 30th. Time Trials. Please do your best to attend. We will take our team photo before the meet. More details to come.
Swim Meets! We have 7 league swim meets this season. You can view them here. I'd also encourage you to add the meets to your phone by subscribing to the calendar.
Saturday June 15. Wahoo Invitational. This is a fun meet for non-year round 10 and under swimmers. More info to come.
Apparel
Tshirts and swim caps will be distributed at practice on Monday. If you would still like to purchase a silicone cap, please contact Laurie Madonna. They are available for $12. Please note, you must have paid for swim team to receive your t-shirt and cap! I have contacted those families that still need to pay.
Swimtopia
You can find almost everything you need on the Wahoo's Swimtopia website. This is where you'll RSVP to meets, sign up for volunteer jobs and meets and events, see which events your swimmers are in, and view results.
I'd also encourage you to download the app. From it, you can follow the meet to see which events/heats are currently swimming and view results and scores. From it you can also set up push notifications.
Please view the Wahoos Swimtopia guide for how to RSVP for meets and sign-up for volunteer jobs.
General Swim Meet Information
For our families new to swim, the Greater Charlotte Swim League (GCSL) website has some great information on the basics of how meets are run and how to prepare your swimmers for meets.
I'd encourage you to look at it, especially the section on how to read heat sheets and how to sharpie your swimmer before meets.
Ok I think that's enough info for one night. More to come as the season progresses!
Jamie
